07.02.08. summer vacation
The band will be on a brief concert hiatus for the next couple of weeks while we go on vacation to relax and explore the various corners of the world. Afterward, we're planning to devote the rest of the summer to working on new material and getting ready for a busy Fall. Should be fun. The preliminary results have been very inspiring so far, so keep your eyes and ears open for future concert dates. Until next time, be safe and have a great summer.

06.03.08. cyrus featured in study breaks
In case you haven't seen it yet, we've been featured with an article and review in the June 2008 issue of Study Breaks Magazine. We even have our picture on the front cover - flippin' sweet!  You can check out the article here, but you'll have to pick up an actual copy of the magazine to see the pictures and fancy layout. (Oh, the suspense!)

Study Breaks issues different versions for each college town in Texas (Lubbock, Austin, San Antonio, College Station, Dallas, San Angelo, etc), and we're rumored to be in all of them. Can anyone confirm or deny this for your city?! Email us if you have any details.

See you in Abilene this weekend.

05.31.08. moshpit mayhem festival
cyrus has joined the bill for this year's hard-rocking Moshpit Mayhem festival in Abilene, Texas.  This is our first stop in Abilene since 2005, and we're looking forward to going back.  The festival kick off at noon on Sunday, June 8th at Desperados Night Club.  We're scheduled to go on sometime around 4:30 p.m. Other bands include In Torment, Indrid Cold, One-Eyed Doll, Brethren of the Accused, Ignite 454, Downpour, Test the Waters and Down the Machine.

If you're going to be in or passing through Abilene that day, be sure and stop by.  This looks like it's going to be a really great event.  Check out all the details on the poster below:

05.18.08. cyrus featured in today's a-j

05.17.08. concerts this week and next
Tonight we return to Amarillo for round two at the 806 with our friends, An Autumn Rain.  Next week we'll be back in Lubbock for our first show at barPM with our friends Icarus Fixed.  3 great bands, 2 shows, no cover at either venue.  Seldom can you find things this good for free.  Check out the posters above or the events page for more details.

04.30.08. cyrus birthday bash
cyrus's very first concert was May 5, 2001 at Grace Church in Lubbock.  Hard to believe that it's been 7 years since then, but this Saturday night (May 3rd) we'll be celebrating our birthday with a special concert at the Porchlight - 3105 34th.  Coincidentally, the Porchlight is located right across the street from where Grace used to be - how's that for a dramatic twist?  We'll be joined by special guest Anthony Artiaga, and we plan to have a nice birthday surprise for everyone.  Cover is $5 and doors open at 8:00 p.m.  Come celebrate with us!

04.29.08. cyrus in the plainsman press
cyrus is featured in this week's edition of the South Plains College Plainsman Press.  If you're an SPC student, be sure to pick up a copy next time you're on campus.  If not, you can check out the article in its entirety in our press section.

04.28.08. now part of your complete breakfast
Our album source is now part of a complete breakfast, lunch, dinner, or afternoon snack at Sugar Brown's Coffee, one of our favorite local hangouts.  Lattes, bagels, and cyrus to go - they'rrrrrrrr great!

04.27.08. spring concert photos
This weekend we've added great new concert photos by our friend Cory Hendricks, who photographed our shows at Bash Riprock's, the Underwood Center for the Arts, and Sugar Brown's.  All of our photos can be found in the extras section of the site.  Take a look at all the fun we've been having, and many thanks to everyone who made it out to these shows.  The last two months have been great.

04.19.08. ilike cyrus (and you can, too)
cyrus has joined ilike.com, which means you can now use the ilike application to share full-length copies of our songs "delusional," "anchored," and "time (rain)" with your facebook friends.  If you've already got ilike on your profile, just go to the application, search for cyrus, and click the orange ilike button next to each of our songs to add them to your page.  If you haven't got ilike on your profile yet, what are you waiting for?!  Email us if you have any special requests for other cyrus songs you'd like to see featured on ilike.  And while you're on facebook, don't forget to visit the cyrus facebook profile and join our fanclub. Have a good weekend.

new band press page
With a couple of great articles written about cyrus in the past week or so, we've added a new press page to the extras section of the website.  In case you missed them, be sure to check out the page for the review of 'delusional' we received from OurStage.com and the write-up we had in the entertainment section of the Amarillo Globe-News last Friday.  We'll be adding more links as we gain more publicity, so be sure to check back from time to time to see what's new.

04.01.08.
thanks for voting! we're #2
Hey friends, just wanted to say thanks to everyone who voted for us in the march ourstage.com competition. It was awesome and humbling to have the extent of the support we received during the contests.

We finished up #1 in alternative rock and #2 overall in the music finals among all genres, which is really cool and mind-blowing, especially considering this was our first full month to compete. It’s really exciting for a song we recorded in Jude’s basement to be considered so highly by so many people, and we really feel like this is going to open a lot of great doors for us in days to come.

If you haven’t checked out ourstage yet, it’s a really cool site, and highly recommended. Competitions are held each month, so hopefully we’ll be back in the finals again soon.

Thanks again for all your love and support. Hope we've made you proud.

03.31.08.
thank you! cyrus in the finals (monday, march 31 only)
WOW! cyrus is the #1 band in the march ourstage.com alt-rock competition! Thank you so much to everyone for their love, support, and votes!  It's been a crazy week, and we couldn't have made it this far without you.  The final round is one day only (Monday, March 31) and voting ends at midnight EST.  We'll be competing against the 36 top songs from all of the other genres for a $5000 grand prize. We've won the alt-rock nomination - now let's take it to the proverbial OurStage Whitehouse!

PLEASE go to ourstage.com, click on the judge link at the top of the main page, and vote for our song "delusional," then tell everyone you think might be interested to vote for us, too. We understand that you might not have time to judge the entire round, but any vote for cyrus will help and is greatly appreciated.

This could be so big for us in allowing the band to make new merchandise, cover touring expenses, and get our name out to thousands of listeners world-wide.  YOUR VOTE IS IMPORTANT!  You can go to ourstage's website, or click on the banner link above to get started (you must be registered to judge the competition).

The banner updates throughout the day, so you can check our progress in the competition here or at ourstage.com.  Please help us win! THANKS!

03.29.08. cyrus moves to the semi-finals!
Talk about March Madness, what a day! In our first full month of competition on OurStage, we've made it into the semi-final round as the top band in alt-rock! Not bad for a song we recorded in Jude's basement, right? Many thanks to everyone who voted for us, became a fan, and helped us get to this next round.

The semi-finals are tough. It's a two-day competition that ends at midnight EST this Sunday (March 30), and we're going against a lot of really good bands. Only the top group moves on to the finals, which means we need a lot of help.

You can (please) help us get to the finals by clicking on the OurStage banner at the top of the page, registering on the site (if you haven't already), and voting for us in the judging section. Sounds like a lot, but it's actually really quick and simple (and a lot of fun). There are 45 possible matchups in the semi-final round, and depending on how long you listen to each song, it should probably take around 15-20 minutes to complete all of them (note: once you listen to 15 seconds of a particular song, you do not have to listen to it again in subsequent matchups.)

Also, we still need a few more people to sign up on our fanclub at ourstage.com for us to have our music sent to AOL for promotional consideration. We need to have those before the end of the month (this Monday), so please hurry if you're interested.

Click the banner at the top of the page to get started or go to: http://www.ourstage.com/profile/cyrusonline.

Thanks again for all your help!

03.29.08. amarillo by evening
(And you just thought we were above punning country music...)

Cyrus will be hitting the road and heading to Amarillo tonight to play at the 806 with our new friends An Autumn Rain. The concert will start at 9 p.m., and there's no admission charge (which means that if you're from around Amarillo, you're going to have to come up with a really good excuse for not being there.)

We're really excited about the concert and getting plugged into the Amarillo music scene.  And, lucky for us, Amarillo is pretty excited about us being there, too.  Need proof?  Just check out the feature article on cyrus in the entertainment section of Friday's Amarillo Globe-News (http://getout.amarillo.com/content/outloud/032808_cyrus.shtml).

Hope to see you at the 806.

03.21.08. upcoming concert at bash's
Hey everyone, we got a great concert coming up at Bash Riprock's 1 in Lubbock (2419 main st) this coming Monday, March 24.  We'll be performing with our friends Moment Machine and Salt Lake City group, The Future of the Ghost.  Doors open at 9:00 p.m., with a $5 cover charge. Have a happy Easter, and we'll see you Monday.

03.16.08. new cyrus photos
For anyone wondering what cyrus actually looks like, the mystery is over.  This weekend we've added new photo galleries to the extras section of the website.  The pictures were taken from our recent concert at the Silver Screen Ball in Lubbock and provided by Sarah Timmons and Chris Caddel (muchas gracias!).

03.12.08. new source for source
For those of you in the Lubbock area, source is now available for purchase at the University location of Ralph's Records (1601 University Ave.).  Check out the goods page for a list of various retail and online outlets where you can buy the new album.

03.01.08.  vote for cyrus on ourstage!
No, we're not running for election (sorry to disappoint you all), but we have recently become part of the monthly online music competitions at ourstage.com.  Last month both "delusional" and "anchored" finished in the top 100 final rankings for alternative music, out of almost 900 song entries.  7th and 8th, respectively, in the state of Texas.  Not bad, especially considering that we didn't even enter until the contest was halfway over!

This month we'll be competing with "delusional" and "time (rain)" from our new album. Rankings are determined by the number of times a song is listened to. The top ten of each catergory are judged and ranked by registered listeners on the site.

You have to register first before you can judge the music, but if you register using this link, OurStage and Paste Magazine will donate $2 for every new registration to the Not For Sale Campaign to end human slavery.  Even if you never listen to our music on the site, please register to raise money for the campaign.

(You can read more about how the ourstage competitions work by following this link: http://www.ourstage.com/about/faqsfaq8a.)
